Rogart and the Surrounding Area
Sutherland, in the Highlands of Scotland, is a remote and beautiful area. Rogart is one of the few unspoilt crofting villages existing today. It is perfect for walking, cycling, bird-watching or simply watching the world go by! Fishing is available on the River Fleet.
The magnificent Dunrobin Castle is 9 miles/14 km away. Whisky can be tasted at Glenmorangie Distillery near Tain (18 miles/28 km) and Clynelish Distillery, Brora (14 miles/23 km). Brora is also a good place to spot seals. The Highland Wildcat Mountain Bike Trails in Golspie (8 miles/12km) have a great reputation. Head to Shin Falls (16 miles/25 km) to see salmon leap. Both Golspie, a pretty coastal village (8 miles/12km), and Sutherland's ancient county town, Dornoch, (12 miles/19 km) have safe, clean, sandy beaches.
Sleeperzzz is an excellent base to explore the local area, as well as a good stop-off point for end-to-enders (Land's End - John O'Groats).
